Meet Melissa

For now you get a photo of me from my sisters wedding in 2016, this is pre kids so…. imagine me with a slightly fuller face, more tired looking eyes, and glasses.

On to the introduction!

Hello, it’s nice to meet you, my name is Melissa. I am a mother of two and the wife of Carl. I am a theater educator and director, I am a voice actor, I am a semi-retired opera singer, I am a lover of historical documentaries and an expert on The Great British Bake Off.

I love a good cup of hot tea, but sometimes you just need a cup of coffee to give you a hug. I love to bake and try new things. I am a crafty person, who loves to make with zero budget. I am also a passionate world traveler with a long ‘to-go’ list. I have always looked forward to the day when I can travel with my family but that time has to wait.

My son Martin has been baking with me in the kitchen since he was 2 and a bit. He loves to ‘make recipes’ with me. As he’s gotten older (he’s 3, but will be 4 in December) he has been able to do more and more in kitchen. Martin also loves to paint and for better or worse he is obsessed with glitter. He is also a massive fan of all things rainbow- but he’ll be the first to tell you his favorite color is orange.

Since having kids I’ve been working part time but due to COVID I now find myself a ‘Stay at Home Mom’. I am a very creative person and I need focus in my life to stay sane. So I decided to focus all of my creative needs on my children and this blog.

I’ve spent years writing theater curriculum so now I’m going to put those skills to use here by writing a curriculum of sorts on world cultures. I will also be learning how to blog while I blog- so this will be fun!

Thank you for reading to the end, as a reward you get a joke:

Which bear is the most condescending?

A Pan-Duh!

Ha, gets me every time! I hope you will stick around and join me on my creative journey.

Trust me, it’ll be worth it.

See you in the first country!

-Melissa
